AN(8)X is a Berlin-based artist collective founded since June 2022 by Yi, Kloxii Li, Jing, Mengxuan sun and bianyachichi who share cultural heritage and are bonded over art and music; it is organically built through self-initiated gatherings and exchanges. The collective aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and intercultural dialogue amongst marginalized groups. It offers a platform to support artists who present audacious hybrid media works that engage with contemporary events affecting Asian diasporas. We derive our name from the whimsical inspiration of the enigmatic "Covert Eight Immortals" in Chinese mythology. These mythical beings possess the ability to seamlessly transform and traverse ethereal realms, said to hold profound knowledge of the mysteries of nature. In the Chinese language, the inherent duality of meanings is frequently embraced, and thus AN(8)X can be interpreted as Love you Eight Times.
