DECOLONOIZE MINIFEST
Decolonoize Minifest: “Still we persist”
At “Neue Zukunft Stralau”, we are opening up spaces for intersectional perspectives and bringing together various forms of expression for one day: live acts such as Nungara and Spixe, lyrical contributions from Savannah Sipho and Ihram Fazal, a reading by Sévérine Kpoti, short films, and DJ sets to round off the day. A small Marketplace will take place in the r100 project space, where BIPoC artists will present their work, zines, music, and crafts—this year with a tattoo artist. As always, admission is free, but we are collecting donations for organizations that support war victims and people in need.

About the Crew/Kollective/Space
BIPOC musicians and artists are still severely underrepresented in music and art scenes. They are underappreciated by labels, broadcasters and booking agents, both in terms of recognition and financially. Historically, genres such as rock and punk have been associated with white British and North American acts. This narrative actively concealed the genres’ original Black origins. Although Black people invented rock and roll, BIPOC artists in this scene are either comparatively less well known or invisible, as the audience doesn’t know or acknowledge that they are BIPOC.
To counteract this discrepancy and give a diverse artist community its rightful space, DECOLONOIZE, a Berlin collective of BIPOC musicians and music lovers, organises concerts and events in the old punk way: From the scene – For the scene.
