Das Zwischen: Between Dreams & Demolition
90mil brings their third edition of Das Zwischen, an event centred on discussing issues facing Berlin’s cultural sphere with a femme line-up of Berlin based artists and cultural leaders. This edition embraces ‘Beyond Tomorrow: Remaining Hopeful in Chaos’ with an opening panel discussing censorship, allyship and potential futures in Berlin’s music scene with Yuko Asanuma (Setten Agency), Jamila Al-Yousef, Nicky Böhm (Refuge Worldwide), Katharin Ahrend (Club Commission) and NaN. Throughout the night, an audio-visual experience and live performance ‘Living Room’ will be taking place in the 90mil basement, exploring themes of community, abandonment and surveillance. ‘Living Room’ is a collaborative work, created by 90mil artists in residence Jona Wolf, abstraqt, Jack Miguel, Sabina Moe and snaeb, from found materials onsite. The night’s sonic lineup features a performance from harpist, composer and visual artist rouge-ah; a live A/V performance ‘Revisiting : Resisting Turbulence’ by NourSokhon; and finally NaN will urge us into a hopeful tomorrow with a closing Dj set.

90mil is a temporary space near Jannowitzbrücke with a focus on cultivating interdisciplinary, intersectional and grass-roots approaches to building community and culture. Founded in February 2023 by Thea Hope and Joseph Summers, 90mil is non-profit, community led and volunteer run. The space exists between genres and artforms, offering a donation based programme that platforms both internationally renowned, underground and emergent artists, with a focus on experimental, interdisciplinary and community based works and concepts. Alongside their events programme 90mil offers diverse facilities such as ceramics studio, movement space, wood and metal workshop, community garden, radio/recording studio and a peer led alternative creative education programme, 90mil Art School. Although temporary, 90mil aims to use its time to serve as an example of successful self organisation within the creative industries, and offer the network and resources for others to cultivate these spaces elsewhere
