OurSpace Berlin is an initiative that stems from our ongoing collaboration with a group of young adults from Pastor Braun Haus, a care home for people with mental and physical disabilities, where music and dancing are integral to their therapy and leisure activities.

The starting point for our collaboration with PBH was teaching them DJ’ing so that together we would perform and provide music for the Special Olympics in Berlin 2023 & 2024. During this process we introduced the group to contemporary global dance music and noticed their love and interest for these sounds grow. The idea of bringing a clubbing experience to their doorstep has been in our mind for a while now and we see it as a great opportunity to link this idea with Tag Der Clubkultur.

From our work with the people at PBH, we realised they genuinely enjoy electronic music, dancing, and social interactions with their peers. Due to their conditions and isolation they are cut off from the vibrant nightlife this city is famous for and as members of Berlin’s celebrated inclusive club culture, we aim to offer these individuals the chance to experience the joy and energy of clubbing.

OurSpace Berlin will feature a club-like environment with a sound system, lights, a DJ line-up, non-alcoholic bar, and a “dressing up zone” where participants can enjoy self-expression through costumes and makeup.

This event is aimed at residents of Pastor Braun Haus and their caregivers, allowing them to fully immerse in this special experience and invite guests.
