Open Music Lab x Tag der Clubkultur
For our Tag der Clubkultur event, we are excited to bring together some of our favorite artists from our community. We will kick off the day with a Rhythm workshop by Iranian community musician and percussionist Kimia Bani, who will teach participants simple Iranian rhythms and percussion styles, and show them how to drum on objects from their daily life to create music. The workshop will take place at 5pm in our own space at Refugio (Lenaustr. 4, 12047 Berlin) - registration link will follow soon.
We will then head to our neighborhood listening bar kwia (Maybachufer 16) for a night of music and performances. Along with storytelling-led DJ sets by Aalia and Neroli, we will have some poetry reading by creative writer and cultural researcher Monica Gutierrez, a drag performance by multi-disciplinary artist and ADIRA co-founder Hassandra, touching on the transformative energy of drag and mental health, as well as an Indian beatboxing performance by drummer and Konnakkol artist SONIKBLASTS.

OPEN MUSIC LAB
Open Music Lab (OML) aims to provide a free platform for musical expression where musicians from different backgrounds can connect and create together. We do this through free music workshops (in music production, DJing, artistic development, mental health...), organising events for our participants to perform, music releases on our label... We at OML believe music creation and performance need safer, more accessible spaces where cultural differences are celebrated, and we want to contribute to the enrichment of Berlin’s electronic music and club scene by widely opening its access to groups who have traditionally been excluded from it. Our goal is to offer all our community members access to Berlin’s music and club scene, giving them the tools to develop themselves as artists, as well as a space to perform as DJs or live artists in our events.
