‘Queer’Asia is a collective of early career researchers, doctoral scholars, and activists. They strive to build a global platform from which to challenge dominant ideas, forms, and representations of gender and sexuality. To share their labour of love, they encourage all participants, readers, viewers, and collaborators to share, showcase, promote, and inspire a plethora of voices from Asia and its vast diaspora. Be the movement for a queerer Asia!
'Queer' Asia Berlin will be inaugurating the first in the series of artistic interventions 'Nijaat/Casteless Futures' by the founder and curator of the Dalit Queer Project Aroh Akunth. The series will commence with a discussion on the parallels between movements against Race and Caste, and how they are inherently interconnected, with a focus on the importance of joy in communities that resist systemic oppression. The discussion will be followed by a series of performances by Dalit Queer authors about how they experience caste in urban, clubbing, queer and personal spaces.
