Berlin en Salsa e.V. is a nonprofit association and a diasporic collective of cultural workers, musicians, DJs, dancers, curators, and event organizers. For many years, we have been part of Berlin’s cultural landscape and the Latin-American diaspora. Our experiences in club culture, live music, cultural education, and community work shape our shared vision.
We view salsa as a diasporic cultural practice that emerged from the encounters between Afro-Caribbean and Latin-American communities. It tells stories of migration, resistance, identity, and collective joy, and connects people across cultural and geographical boundaries. That is why we see salsa as a vibrant music, dance, and club culture, as well as a social and cultural space for connection.
Through Berlin en Salsa, we create formats that combine music, dance, knowledge sharing, and community building. What began as self-organized events has evolved into a platform that brings generations and communities together. Through the Berlin en Salsa Festival—held annually since 2025—as well as club nights, concerts, workshops, and discussion events, we foster exchange between local and international artists and bring to light the stories of Afro-Caribbean and Latin American communities. This is how FUEGO36 came to be: a club night for these communities in the heart of Kreuzberg.
